Creation of a box containing:
- a backgammon set, checkers and chessboard in leather marquetry.
- different small boxes to hold the game pieces.
- a book showing the photos taken during the building of this box.
I made created this work for a competition sponsored by the SEMA (société
d'encouragement aux métiers d'art), in which I obtained the departmental and regional 1st prize and placed 6th nation-wide.
The colors of the leather, the binding and the gilded decorated were chosen with the intention of creating a typically 18th century object.
